225 physics instruments are exhibited (out of a total of 465). These are either for didactic purposes or were specifically constructed for use in scientific research carried out by teaching staff during the nineteenth century. Over 70% of the equipment exhibited is in perfect working order, as witnesses the use of some instruments during the visits and during the presentations at the school today. The guides of the groups are a few students of the school: they have attended a formation course organized by the Museum Direction with positive result.

The Mechanics Section has a lot of valuable tools, realized by artisans of the 19th century, such as the Parabolic motion tool of Dr. Miotti.
The Section dedicated to Thermodynamics has its pièce de résistance in the Big steam locomotive model, realized by the "lab thecnician" Francesco Cobres. It is a fully functioning steam locomotive in miniature which faithfully reproduces the locomotive used for the first Italian railway (Naples-Portici, 1839).
The Waves Section is divided into two Subsections (Optic and Acoustic) and has various pieces of great interest like the Phonograph with trumpet and engraved cylinders, still working perfectly, Chladni's figures equipment and the Parabolic reflectors with support.
The Section of Fluid Mechanics is divided into two Subsections (Liquids and Gases) with tools of immense historical importances, for example the Magdeburg hemispheres in brass.
The Electromagnetism Section, is particularly rich in XIX century tools (so contemporary with the birth of modern electromagnetic theory)
