During the 1st World War, in winter 1917, the High Command of the Italian Army had his headquarters in the Villa and the 9th November 1917 took place there the handing over between the Commander Luigi Cadorna (1850-1928), removed from the office owing to Caporetto defeat, and Armando Diaz (1861-1928) who leaded then the Italian Army to the victories on the Piave river and in Vittorio Veneto in 1918.
