On Saturday, 29 May 2010, at 8:30 p.m. at the sandy area of Piazza Brescia, Jesolo’s 13th Festival of Sand Sculptures will open, dedicated to the adventures of Pinocchio, an exciting journey into a tale that still captivates young readers. Pinocchio, the light-hearted puppet created by Carlo Collodi, will take shape through the work of 17 sand artists from all over the world, coordinated by artistic director Richard Varano, who has followed the Festival of the City of Jesolo since 1998.
Visitors will trace the central stages in the life of the little puppet, from his creation by Mastro Geppetto, his encounters with the dreaded Fire Eater, the sly Cat and Fox, the lovely Blue Fairy, and many other characters and fantastic places to create an 'atmosphere of play and merriment yet without forgetting the educational value that the tale recounts.
