Cinto Caomaggiore

Facebook

In Roman times the territory of Cinto Caomaggiore, nowadays cultivated with grain and vineyards, was covered in forests. In the sixties, as a result of the extraction of gravel for the construction of the Venice-Trieste and Portogruaro-Pordenone motorways, two artificial lakes were created, known as ‘Cave di Cinto’: enchanting locality rich in natural character where it is possible to observe numerous botanic species, fish and permanent or migrating birds. From a historical, artistic and architectural point of view, worth a visit are: the Parish Church, dedicated to S.Biagio, whose origins on record date XVII century; the church of San Giovanni Battista at Settimo; and the Church of the Concezione. The church of the Concezione, characterised by an ample neoclassical porchway confirming the origins between XV and XVI century, has a single altar on which there is a wooden statue of the Madonna attributed to Valentino Panciera from Belluno, otherwise called the ‘Besarel’.
